Biography

Born and raised in New York, Pete Miller is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer with over 15 years of experience in piano performance and composition (jazz/soul/funk), and over 10 years of experience in electronic music production.

Pete has devoted his life to music — learning, creating, playing and teaching as much as possible — because he believes in its extraordinary power as a form of self-expression and its ability to facilitate meaningful connections with people from all around the world.

Since he began taking piano lessons at age five, Pete has had the privilege of studying and playing with world-class musicians such as John Scofield, Russell Ferrante, Nigel Hall, Eric Krasno, Greg Mayo and Clifford Carter.

In 2012, Pete won first place in Downbeat Magazine’s Student Music Awards in the Jazz Soloist category. Three years later, as a junior in high school, Pete led a trio that competed in the Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival. The trio won first place in their category, and Pete received both the Judge’s Choice Award and the Superior Musicianship Award. He continued his jazz studies in high school at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division under the tutelage of the great pianist Jeremy Manasia.

In 2016, Pete began working towards a Bachelor of Music degree, with a focus on music production, from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. He was honored to be the sole recipient of Thornton’s Presidential Scholarship for the class of 2020.

While studying in Los Angeles, Pete collaborated as a producer and session musician for RAYE, Noah Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa, Arlo Parks, Meghan Trainor, Caye, Mike Sabath, Hablot Brown and more. He took a two year leave of absence from school in 2018 to tour extensively as a keyboardist and musical director for Caye, playing well over 50 shows throughout North America.

Pete moved back to New York in 2024 where he continues to write, produce, and play music of all styles. His collaborations with director Joshua Charow on the documentary series Lime Light, which highlights some of New York City’s most interesting characters, have garnered millions of views on YouTube and across social media. Pete aims to continue releasing original music and collaborating with other artists and creatives that inspire him.
